Aurora Package / City Tour / Clothing Rental / Optional Packages


Aurora Package:
Minimum number of guests : 2person
Time ; 20:30-01:00 / 21:30-02:00(after April 1st)

Aurora Village will include the following services:
  • Transportation service to/from airport/hotel, and departure assist.
  • Orientation (ca. 30 min.)
  • Welcome packages
  • City Tour of Yellowknife (approx. 2 hrs.)
  • 24 hour emergency assistance
  • Aurora Viewing (guests may choose 2,3 or 4nights viewings package)
    Our guests can increase their viewing time by 1.5 to 2 hours on the same night for a small additional charge.
    During the aurora viewing, hot drinks and late night snacks will be served.
  • Use of our three-story high slide (tubes-sliding equipment will be provided)
  • All the times listed (including optional packages) are departing/arriving at the Explorer Hotel.
    Guests staying at other hotels will be provided with shuttle service to/from hotel and the Explorer Hotel.

Aurora Option:

Extra Aurora Viewing
Minimum number of guests ; 2person
Time ; 20:30-01:00 / 21:30-02:00(after April 1st)
  • Transportation to / from hotel and Village
  • Hot drinks and late night snacks
Same Night Extension
  • Guests can extend their aurora viewing time by an extra 1.5 hours.
  • This may booked on site during the aurora viewings.
Aurora Kotatsu-Outdoor heated seats
Minimum number of guests ; 2 person

  • It will be used for 2.5 hours during the aurora viewing.
  • We advise our guests to make reservations for the Aurora Kotatsu by 6:00pm on the night before to gurantee their space.
Dog Sled Night Experience
Minimum number of guests ; 2person

  • The dog sled experience is a 20 minutes ride during the aurora viewing.
  • We advise our guests to make reservations for the Dog Sled Experience at Night by 6:00pm the night before.
Dream Catcher Lesson
Minimum number of guests ; 2person

  • We offer our guests the chance to make their own Dream Catcher Lesson in the Teepee as you wait for Aurora. All the cost of materials are included in the charge.
  • We advice our guests to make reservations for the Dream Catcher lesson by 6:00pm the night before.

City Tour :
withc Aurora Packages only
Time ; 14:00-16:00 on Day2 of Trip

During the city tour, we will drive past the following places:
  • Downtown Yellowknife
  • Old Town
  • House boat / float plane base
and stop at the following locations:
  • The Prince Of Wales Northern Heritage Centre
  • Great Slave Lake (ice road weather permitting)
  • Gift Shop
Rental Package:
Clothing Rental
  • Winter boots (rated for -100 degrees Celsius)
  • Down-filled Parka
  • Insulated Pants
  • Arctic Mitts
  • Wool toque
All 5 clothing items are included in our clothing rental package.

We deliver the winter clothing to the hotel room on the day of guests arrival.
For this service, we request clothing and boot sizes before the arrival date.

For guests that choose not to pre-book their clothing rental, they can make arrangements by phoning the Aurora Village office or speaking to one of our guides.

Guests will be responsible for the loss or significant damage to rental equipment.

Time ; 12:30-17:00

Full payment must be made for all optional tours before the time of the departure.
We advise our guests to make their reservation for the optional tour to guarantee their space

Optional Package #1:
Great Aboriginal Experience $85.00
  • Transportation to/from hotel and Aurora Village
  • Snow shoe walk to a near by lake plus an explanation of how aboriginal people traditionally relate to the land.
  • Fire-making demonstration
  • Hot drinks, snacks and open-fire marshmallow roast at the Village
Optional Package #2:
Dog Team Ride $85.00
  • Transportation to/from hotel to the Village
  • Dog team ride (approximately 7 km)
  • Hot drinks, snacks and marshmallow roast at the Village
Optional Package #3:
Drive Your Own Dog Team $130.00
  • Transportation to/from hotel to the Village
  • Instructions by Musher (approximately 10 minutes)
  • Drive the dog team for (approximately 4 km)
  • Hot drinks, snacks and marshmallow roast at the Village
Optional Package #4:
Snowmobile Ride $85.00
  • Transportation to/from hotel and Aurora Village
  • Snowmobile instruction (approximately 10 minutes)
  • Snowmobile rental (approximately 20 minutes)
  • Hot drinks, snacks and marshmallow roast at the Village
Optional Package #5:
Combination of Optional Packages #1-#4 $20.00off

Any conbination of the optimal packages #1-#4 on the same day will receive a $20.00 discount.

Optional Package #6:
Ice Fishing and Snowmobile Tour $295.00
Minimum number of guests : 2person
Time ; 10:30-17:30
  • Transportation to/from hotel and Aurora Village
  • Drive snowmobile from Aurora Village to Fishing point.
    snowmobile instruction & ride included
  • Ice fishing, target shooting
  • Warm lunch will be served
  • Hot drinks and snacks are served
  • Individual guests must purchase fishing license $35 (we supply them)
Optional Package #7:
Northern Sky and Wildlife Flight Tour
(flight tour is provided by a local charter airline company. The tour will be offered according to their flight regulations)

Minimum number of guests : 2person
Time ; 10:30-12:30
Time ; 13:30-16:30
  • Transportation to/from hotel and plane base
  • Enjoy a great northern landscape view from the sky
  • Complimentary use of Binoculars are provided for close up viewing
  • Plane will land on lake for a photo opportunity
    (approx. 15 minutes-weather permitting)
*To comply with the airline regulations, individual guests must wear winter boots and parka

Our Guests Can Also Enjoy:
  • A dog kennel will be set up at the Aurora Village for our guests to take a picture with the dogs
  • Inner tubing down our three story outdoor slide.
  • Marshmallow roasting at our fire circle
  • Walking trails for our guests to take a little walk
  • Caribou and other wildlife are sometimes sighted at our Village location. If you are lucky they just might come by when you are visiting!
